Our travels

Last summer, photographer Lado Pavliha embarked on an unforgettable journey with his son, exploring the mountainous regions of Pakistan, China, and Kyrgyzstan.
This exhibition of photographs captures and brings to life the essence of their adventure.
Lado Pavliha recounts: “In Pakistan, we ventured into the heart of three great mountain ranges – the Himalayas, Karakoram, and Hindu Kush – along the mighty Indus River, to the foot of the ‘Naked Mountain’ Nanga Parbat (8,126 m) and the legendary Hunza Valley, the valley of centenarians, awed by landscape dominated by breathtaking seven- and eight-thousand-metre peaks.
Traveling the Karakoram Highway, we crossed the highest border crossing in the world, the Khunjerab Pass (4,693 m) into China, where we stayed in traditional yurts by Karakul Lake beneath the majestic Muztagh Ata (7,506 m), soaking in sweeping panoramas and enjoying complete harmony with nature.
Our journey continued to the historic Silk Road city of Kashgar, where Uyghurs, Tajiks, Kyrgyz, and Uzbeks meet at the famous market. Crossing the Torugart Pass (3,752 m), we entered the remote beauty of Kyrgyzstan, marvelling at the crystal waters of Issyk Kul Lake under the Aksay Mountains, before returning home via Bishkek.”
