Gradnik Homestead. Traces of Home.

The Dablo Association brings together people united by a passion for painting and creative work in Goriška Brda and the surrounding area.

This time, we are presenting a project created in two parts, using painting to tell the story of how a place changes over time.

The first part was created on 6 October 2023 during an en plein air painting workshop, when the artists gathered at the Gradnik Homestead and painted it directly from life, surrounded by nature. Shortly afterwards, the homestead was demolished.

Three years later, we returned to the same paths. This time, we painted the landscape as it looks today, capturing the present moment through our work. Two images of the same place thus become a record of time – a memory of what once was and a glimpse of what is there today.

The exhibition features fifteen artists, each telling the story of this changing landscape through their own perspective, artistic expression and painting style.
